Rockaway Beach Chamber of Commerce hosted its
annual Easter Sunrise Service and Breakfast. The
weather turned out to be picture perfect and it was
evident by the crowd that woke up early to attend the
service. It was estimated that 116 people were in
attendance. In an
effort to bring back the once hit sunrise service,
Bridge of Faith Community Church teamed up with
Forsyth United Methodist and Forsyth Community
Presbyterian churches for a community wide
service. The sevice consisted of help from all
three churches. The service kicked off with
musicians from the Methodist church and was followed by
an opening from pastor Jonathan of Bridge of
Faith. Pastor Dennis from the Community
Presbyterian read scripture and was followed by Mike
Terrell leading in a congregational
hymn. Minister Larry Lawman
from Forsyth United Methodist gave the annual sermon and
started by asking how many aliens are
present. He concluded his message by saying that
because of the resurrection we are to live in the world
but not of the world in this life. By the end of
the message, the whole crowd raised their hands that
they were aliens. Rockaway
Beach was a beautiful setting for the sunrise
service. Lake Taneycomo was calm and the birds
were singing in the air. In the middle of the
service, the sun came gleaming over the Ozark
hills. It was such a beautiful sight in Rockaway
Beach to see the Body of Christ come together to
celebrate the resurrection of Jesus
Christ. Rockaway Beach Chamber of
Commerce ladies cooked breakfast for after the
service. It was a wonderful breakfast. The
community center was full and people that were spending
quality time fellowshipping with one another.
It was great to hear the churches
talking with each other and beginning to plan for next
year. Rockaway can only hope next year will be
bigger and better next year. |
